Ben Sydor
Production Engineer, UK
Ben first came to Corin in 2005 as a linisher and polisher on the factory shopfloor. Moving between different stages in the manufacturing process, he eventually began studying for an HNC in mechanical engineering, supported by Corin. Combining his work with one day a week at college, he subsequently chose to take his studies further, converting his qualification into an HND. This also enabled him to spend the second half of the year on secondment to Corin’s Production Engineering department.
The insight this provided opened Ben’s eyes to the future direction he wanted his career to follow, and so when a job later became available in Production Engineering he jumped at the chance. Ben’s story is typical of many at Corin, where people are supported and encouraged to move around within the organisation, increasing their skill-set and deepening their understanding of the overall process. Ben feels that the opportunities he has been given would not be possible in every company though: “Throughout my time at Corin I have found that everybody working within the organisation is very friendly and willing to help. I am very excited to be part of such a growing organisation and am looking forward to embracing new challenges in the future”.
