Hernan Vilar

Senior Systems Engineer, UK 

A member of the IT team, Hernan joined Corin in 2002. Within this broad arena he has moved between a number of different roles from Network Administrator, in the frontline on the IT helpdesk, and now looking after the behind-the-scenes infrastructure as Senior Systems Engineer. 

Hernan says that he was looking for a more challenging role when he first came to Corin and was especially interested in the potential to help set up new subsidiary offices, offering the opportunity to travel and meet new people. An Argentine by birth, he previously worked for a toiletries company in the south-west when he first arrived in the UK – here he was a network administrator with responsibility for the company’s general IT needs. Before this he worked on the reception of a large hotel in Buenos Aires. 

Hernan originally chose to go into IT as it was the only way that he could keep in contact with his friends and family back in Argentina, after leaving for Britain. He did this by teaching himself about the internet, reading books on IT and taking technical Microsoft courses on MS Windows and MS Exchange Server. Hernan enjoys the challenge of learning new technologies and ensures that he keeps up to speed with all the latest developments in IT by taking additional exams and qualifications. 

“I really enjoy interacting with other departments and the people who work at Corin – in fact 99% of the reason for working here is the people,” says Hernan. “Corin has undergone so many changes in the last few years since I have been here – it has always been a very exciting place to work, but it has always remained a really friendly environment too”.
