Sarah Gentil
Technical Systems Support, UK
Sarah is one of Corin’s longest-serving employees, having started back in 1991, and says that she has certainly seen a lot of changes over this time. Having originally qualified as a print and design engineer, she previously worked for the Whitbread chain (including TGI Friday) and also the QE2, where she was responsible for all aspects of printed materials, from promotional flyers to on-board personalised stationary. She came to Corin at a time when the company was still quite small, starting out as the only woman employed on the shop floor. Working originally in the passivation and packing departments, she says this was still in the days when everyone needed to ‘chip in’ sometimes, regardless of department, so has probably done most jobs on the shopfloor at one time or another.
She rose to her present role, where she is heavily involved in the packing and labelling of Corin’s products, through a series of promotions, but finds her previous experience and understanding of Corin’s processes invaluable. Her technical training has also stood her in good stead: “It’s amazing how many aspects of the printer’s role come in handy in my present position in Technical Systems Support, even if it is only to understand grades and performance of different paper stocks. It’s also especially handy for the packaging design and performance side.
“My role is constantly changing and I have seen Corin evolve throughout many years. I also really enjoy working with such a great bunch of people, not just in my department but also company-wide. My progression up through Corin has been really interesting – from sweeping the floor to Inspector to Clean Room Supervisor to Production Engineering to where I am now – and all the other jobs in between! It’s certainly been a journey.”
