Spacers
Antibiotic Bone Cement Spacers
Both hip and knee spacers are intended to be temporarily implanted as an aid to the treatment of infection through efficient local gentamicin release. The spacers preserve the articular space and improve quality of life between successive surgeries as joints are kept functional. This can also lead to improved recovery time and a shorter hospitalisation period. Effective treatment of infection is achieved through a homogenous distribution of gentamicin throughout the spacer and a controlled release over time.
Hip spacers
Hip spacers are available in Müller and Charnley type stems and contain an AISI 316L surgical grade stainless steel core to assure resistance to physiological and mechanical stress.
Knee spacer
Knee spacers are available in three sizes. The implant is designed to preserve the functionality of the lateral ligaments and simplify the surgical approach as the patella tendon is free from adherence produced by immobilisation.
