Fabio Cestari Accorsi

Fabio, 31 from Brazil, works in sales and has enjoyed surfing, swimming, running and cycling ever since his childhood.

"The trauma from a car accident in 1998 caused necrosis of the head of my femur. Before having surgery I was very limited to what activities I could perform due to the intense pain. I needed to use a crutch or cane to enable me to walk. 

"I had heard of many surgeons who used types of hip prostheses that would make it impossible for me to return to a life as before, and this left me worried. In 2008 I was told I could be operated on by a medical team in Brazil that used the Cormet hip resurfacing prosthesis, and that it would only be a short time before I would be back to doing everything I did before. My operation took place in December 2008. My recovery was great and I did not have any problems after surgery. I felt very well and without pain. 

"For about 20 days after surgery I walked with the assistance of a walker and after that I used a crutch. I then started to do physiotherapy and climb stairs without any problems, and in ten weeks I felt very able to do everything. I was already leading a normal life and practising sports, especially surfing, cycling, car and motorcycle driving. I returned to sports, to long walks and I feel like another person. 

"Before my surgery I tried other types of alternative medicine such as acupuncture, physiotherapy and religion. I also checked out several other medications, but unfortunately these had no success in my case and the best solution was for me to have surgery. 

"The operation meant everything good in my life returned and in a short time I was back doing what I did before. Best of all it was without pain and limitations, of course now I'm having a great quality of life. I will always be grateful to the entire medical team and all of the excellent Corin Group and Cormet prosthesis. God to enlighten all of Corin."
