Man waterskiing"I was always extremely healthy and fit, seldom visiting a doctor. Even after developing the groin pain I waited some 12 months before seeking help, when it was discovered I hadn't a sports injury but needed a hip replacement.

"I had my first hip resurfaced in the summer of 2004 and my second in the spring of 2006.

"Recovery in both instances was different in that I had two separate instructions. After the first operation I was told not to put any weight on the operated leg for six weeks, whereas with the second hip I was told to put weight on it almost immediately. In my opinion recovery was quicker with the second option as the six weeks without any weight meant my muscles had lost tone. With the second operation I was walking with one stick after one week and walking unaided within one month.

"I was back to waterskiing on two skis after six weeks and deep starting on one ski with the operated leg within 12 weeks.

"I currently hold and defend a Guinness world record in the extreme watersport of hydrofoiling - with both hips resurfaced with the Corin Cormet implant. In order to control the foil, I would estimate it takes 90% of hip movement, which makes the Corin implant all the more amazing. Thank you very, very much.

"I tried herbal treatments such as MSM tablets and magnets without much success.

"I have returned fully to active life with no pain and no restraints. In fact when my wife warns me to be careful with my hips, my reply is mine are younger than yours!"
