Dr Simon Coffey

Dr Simon Coffey specialises in the management of lower limb musculoskeletal issues, particularly primary and revision hip & knee replacement surgery.
Dr Coffey has over 20 years’ experience in specialist clinical practice. He has always been actively involved in teaching and supervision of Orthopaedic trainees and actively contributes to many committees, regulatory boards and advocacy organisations. He is the Treasurer of the Asia Pacific Arthroplasty Society (APAS) and sits on the Executive Committee. He served as an examiner on the Orthopaedic board of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons between 2014-2023.
Dr Coffey is a highly experienced user of the OMNIBotics® technology and APEX Knee™. He has particular interest in alignment and balance in TKA and has published multiple times on the use of OMNIBotics and its application to deliver multiple alignment philosophies – Kinematic Alignment, Gap Balancing & Inverse Kinematic Alignment. Dr Coffey has also contributed to the design of several orthopaedic implants, including the Paragon femoral stem which he utilises in his total hip replacements alongside OPSInsight™.
Dr Coffey is the first surgeon in Australia to perform a total knee replacement with Corin's Apollo™ Robotic-Assisted Surgical Platform.
