Morriston Hospital is a busy level 1 Trauma centre with dedicated elective facilities for arthroplasty surgery. Approximately 1200 lower limb arthroplasty operations are performed each year. It is a centre for visiting surgeons who have attended from a number of countries to observe a variety of surgical procedures. A number of inter-hospital projects and collaborations are being pursued. It is associated with Swansea University Medical School which trains 120 graduate entry students per year.
Mr. Mark Mullins
Mr Mullins undertook his medical training at Cambridge University and St. Mary’s Hospital London followed by orthopaedic training on the London circuit. After a year of specialist fellowship in lower limb surgery in Paris, he returned to his native Swansea in 2006 to become a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon. He currently specialises in young persons hip primary and revision arthroplasty as well as primary and revision knee arthroplasty.
Mr David Woodnutt
Mr David Woodnutt is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in lower limb arthroplasty, particularly primary knee and hip replacement, he has developed an interest in the sub-speciality of young patient hip disease. The high demands and unique problems associated with hip replacements in the sporting and working person demand special techniques and prostheses. Mr Woodnutt also has an active practice in the field of revision surgery, both in the hip and the knee. Mr Woodnutt currently performs around 600 total joint replacements per year.
