The hospital is the most important centre in the local region of the Dornbirn city. Dornbirn has about 50.000 inhabitants, including the suburbs there are about 100.000 inhabitants. The general hospital has 7 departments (Orthopaedics and Traumatology, Internal Medicine, General Surgery, Paediatrics, Gynaecology and Obstetrics, Radiology, Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care Unit). The orthopaedics and traumatology department has 46 beds available for the inpatients. About 2.700 surgeries are performed per year by the orthopaedic and traumatology surgeons. The main focus of the department is the joint replacement surgery including primaries and revisions.
Assoc. Prof. Arno Martin MD, MSc
A. Martin is specialized in hip and knee arthroplasty since the year 2001. Several studies about total knee and hip replacement were published in international journals. In 2010 the Medical University of Innsbruck awarded to A. Martin the academic degree of Associated Professor for orthopaedic surgery. In the years 2012 and 2013 he completed a specialty education program in paediatric orthopaedics in the children’s hospital St. Gallen, Switzerland. Since 2017 A. Martin is the head of the department for Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology at the General Hospital Dornbirn.
